The team at propertECO spent a fantastic three days in Manchester this week at the Education Estates conference and exhibition, spreading awareness on radon.
Amongst a whole host of exhibitors ranging from modular building firms and suppliers of playground equipment to architects and asbestos consultants, we were there to ensure school property managers were aware of their responsibilities regarding radon gas.
Whilst some delegates were knowledgeable and had completed their risk assessments, others were surprised to learn that they were living, or working, in a radon affected area.
Delegates and other exhibitors alike came to our stand and carried out a free radon postcode search on the UK radon map to assess their risk.
We provided attendees with a copy of our radon in schools guidance pack including a template radon risk assessment, showed them what a radon detector looks like and how a radon test is carried out. We also had a simulation radon sump system running and visitors were impressed with how unobtrusive the RadonAway RP145i fans looked and sounded.
We were also able to connect with colleagues from related industries, such as architects, engineers and project managers who have booked us to deliver a technical CPD seminar on radon gas.
We’re looking forward to attending more events to improve awareness and understanding of the risks of radon exposure. Do you have a question about radon? Send us an email to hello@properteco.co.uk and we’d love to answer it!
