Radon specialists propertECO were recently invited to speak to members of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) in Essex about the dangers of radon gas and employers’ responsibilities for carrying out radon risk assessments.
Although the radon maps show that much of the county is a ‘lower risk’ area when it comes to radon, propertECO have been involved in a number of remediation schemes in the area where high concentrations of radon had been found. Many, but not all, of these properties included basements, and it is now widely recognised that properties with basements are at increased risk of high radon concentrations.
Parts of Essex where propertECO have been involved in radon mitigation schemes, either using radon sumps or positive pressure air management systems include Leigh on Sea, Frinton on Sea, Wickford, Epping, Grays, Romford, Basildon, Billericay, Braintree and Brentwood.
After giving a technical CPD seminar on the subject of radon to ove 60 members of the local IOSH branch, some of the committee members posed with Radon Tee as part of the social media campaign propertECO are involved in to increase awareness of radon.
