Research recently published by Public Health England (PHE) found that average indoor radon levels are rising due to the installation of energy-saving measures such as double glazing, loft and wall insulation.
The study found that the average radon level in homes where double glazing had been retrofitted was 67% higher than those without. Radon Awareness Week Ambassador Martin Roberts commented: “By installing double glazing or insulating our lofts we’re rightly doing our bit to help the environment, and our wallets, but people need to consider and counteract the knock-on effect it might have on our health.”
